Thursday Prayer

Eternal wellspring of peace--
may we be drenched with the longing for peace
that we may give ourselves over
as the earth to the rain, to the dew,
until peace overflows our lives
as living waters overflow the seas.

dear friends,
I'm on about my 14th day of a headache/dizziness thing. it is really affecting my work, family and mood - as well as my prayer life, which mostly is nil at the moment. If you could please pray for relief, and for the wisdom of the 2 specialists I am to see on friday and monday, I know that will help.

Wanted to cross post this here... I left it in comments for Gannet Girl...

I received it from a mentoring pastor who suggested that I stick it in a file for my CPE days, whenever they happen... and she said that it would mostly be for my own comfort.

Worth a share.

The Prayer Tree
by Michael Leunig

When the heart
Is cut or cracked or broken
Do not clutch it
Let the wound lie open

Let the wind
From the good old sea blow in
To bathe the wound with salt
And let it sting.

Let a stray dog lick it
Let a bird lean in the hole and sing
A simple song like a tiny bell
And let it ring

Let it go. Let it out.
Let it all unravel.
Let it free and it can be
A path on which to travel.

juniper,

Prayers for you are promised. One of my friends once talked of a time when he couldn't pray, and a friend offered not only prayers for his intentions, but to pray in his stead (as it were)...

I finally broke down (or let go, as deb's poem suggests) and asked one of my priest friends for the sacrament of the sick. It has been a source of profound grace these last two days...

thanks, all, for the prayers that got me there...

And - Fluffy, the prodigal cat, came home...

Juniper, thinking of you, praying for you.
I've been so grateful for the prayers of this community. I'm continuing to contend with the life-altering circumstances of chronic illness, though also grateful it is not acute at the moment. I told a friend just today how much it meant to me that others prayed when I could not. I hope i can do the same for the rest of you.

Please pray for my friend Joe who is dying of cancer, probably this weekend. Also pray for his wife Mary Jane. Thank you.

Prayers for you, Juniper, and for your friend and his wife, Jan.

Michelle, so glad you had the courage to reach out for help and that you found grace when you did.

So grateful for this praying community, indeed.
