Opportunities

If someone prays for patience, you think God gives her patience, or does God give her the opportunity to be patient?
If she prays for courage, does God give her courage, or does God give her opportunities to be courageous?
If someone prays for their family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does God give them opportunities to love each other?

wow, what a prayer!

(stepped in to stand in but hey this was a million times better!)

I thank you for this. ... but it does remind me to be careful what I pray for :)

That said, a couple of prayer requests here

My son (TS) has lost his keys. He and we have hunted high and low but not in the right place yet. ... please Lord help us locate them!

The wedding of my friends' 19 year old son is tomorrow. May it not be all about the glitter and the day itself (though Lord we pray for your blessing on that too) but a standing before God and promising to do their best and listen to His prompting on how to love and cherish, work with each other and build each other up.

My health. Not sure what's causing it but I've been under the weather all week and today throwing up ...
I'd really like to be better!

thanks pals!

Prayers for your health, Lorna.

RE lost keys: Do you know this one, taught to me by a Catholic professor? She says all Catholic schoolchildren learn it - ya'll who know better will have to say if that's true, but I know it works. I have found lost keys dozens of times by standing still and saying this prayer:

Prayer to St Anthony,
Patron Saint of Lost Things
"Tony, Tony, come around.
Something's lost and can't be found!"

Yes, prayers on all counts Lorna.

St. Anthony always helps find things....not just car keys either (communities, vocational paths, God's love, etc.) The saints never want to get in the way of our love and devotion to Jesus, just increase it as we do for each other. I have a beautiful statue of him as traditionally shown with a bible in one hand because he was a gifted preacher and theologian and the Christ Child in the other, because he had visions of getting to hold him. Katie saw it and said "He's reading to Baby Jesus!"

Prayer request from a friend of a friend: one of a pair of identical four month old twin girls died from SIDS at daycare today....so consolation for the parents and family, and protection for the surviving twin, is needed. Thanks.
