Monday Prayer: The Cornerstone of Peace

Almighty God, the Great Thumb
we cannot evade to tie any knot:
The Roaring Thunder that splits mighty trees;
the all-seeing Lord up on high who sees
even the footprints of an antelope on a rock mass here on earth.
You are the one who does not hesitate to respond to our call.
You are the cornerstone of peace.

In trying to determine how to attribute this prayer, I found some resources that called it a "Native American Prayer for Peace" and some that referred to it as a "Native African Prayer for Peace." Given that Africa is a continent with people from many countries and different traditions and Native Americans have many tribes that have their own unique characteristics, let us pray with the hearts of all people and all creation to the end of the pain of division, the wisdom to appreciate difference, and the ability to see Christ who is Love in all.
