Ash Wednesday

Ring around the rosy,
pockets full of posey,
Ashes, ashes,
We all fall down!

On this day of penitence,
Of looking back,
Of looking forward,
Of dancing and spinning and falling down into the ashes...
It is good to lay on this supportive earth home.
We come from its dust,
And to its dust we return.
Hold us in this dust,
Long enough to remind us of how human we are,
And how much a part of this earth we are.
Then pick us up, and plant our feet firmly in the dirt,
As we travel with You these next 40 days.
Amen
