Pick Up Your Cross

Almighty God, by your Holy Spirit you have made us one with your saints in heaven and on earth: Help us to see your presence burning in the hearts of others; grant that we may be united in a fellowship of love and prayer; give us the courage to pick up our cross and respond to the needs of the world, give us the stamina to follow you, to be your hands and heart in the world; enable us to witness to your grace and mercy. We pray all this through the love your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

I could use prayers for two aspects of my own labor/suffering:

1) Nicholas had a really bad episode last week and was very difficult at church today. The community is wonderfully supportive with both prayer and kindness, thank God, but it's a hard road. And Wednesday he starts public middle school--which may be one reason he's had some trouble, as he will really miss his Boys and Girls club from this summer. He will arrive home from the bus every day at 2:45 and I get him solo for the most part, and I'm a bit scared.

2) I finished a really good manuscript of my feminist Morning and Evening Prayer and am ready to send it to a publisher for consideration--praise God, again. But I need an introduction and query letter are pushing my writer's block/inadequacy buttons and giving me fits.

Many thanks, dear sister-friends.

Praying for you and Nicholas and all your family, Laura. Thanks be to god for that church family!

Praying also for the MS process. You are immensely capable and gifted!
