With Thoughts of Hagar

God of the Desert Times,
We turn to you this day trusting that no matter the concerns we carry, you care and are present for us.
If we are thirsty, you are the source of water.
If we are ill, you are the source of healing.
If we are discouraged, you are the source of hope.
Open our eyes, O God, as you opened Hagar's in the desert so long ago. Open our hearts to your refreshing grace, to the water that will quench us always, to the water that is more than H2O, to the water that is your constant presence in our lives.
With that water in our spiritual canteens, we can go forward, no matter what we may face. Amen.

(This is an adaptation of my pastoral prayer yesterday. The image is Marc Chagall's painting of Hagar in the Desert.)

Friends, I would ask for your prayers for Mother Laura. I received an email from her mom, Diane Grimes, saying Laura is in the hospital and asking us "to pray for her health and for peace of mind for herself and her family."
Lord, hear our prayers.

Also I'd like to ask for your prayers too--I am having all four of my impacted wisdom teeth removed tomorrow morning. The bottom two are entwined with the nerve that runs through my jaw, the top two are poking into my sinus cavities, both of which present the surgeon with some difficulty and me with some possible bad after-effects. also, I've never been on the receiving end of any medical procedure ever and I'm going to sleep for this one. Good times. And, of course, it's VBS this week so I need to recover ASAP! And did I mention that I'm a wuss? Thanks, friends. :-)

Oh, Teri, really praying for you on this one...I've had that done but not with such serious implications. I hope you have good backup for VBS...to alleviate worry for you if nothing else...would like you to be able to focus on recovery and YOU!
