Saturday June 23rd

Jesus, we know that we cannot see where the wind is, or where it blows, but we ask You to be the wind in our sails. Help us to find that place of rest in You - so that as the wind picks up we can notice it and set our sails accordingly - and sail to where You want us to go, to be your hands, your ears and your voice ministering to the people we meet on the way. Amen

Jesus be the centre
Be my source, be my light
Jesus
Jesus be the centre
Be my song
Jesus

Be the fire in my heart
Be the wind in my sails
Be the reason that I live
Jesus, Jesus

Jesus be my vision
Be my help
Be my guide
Jesus

Be the fire in my heart
Be the wind in my sails
Be the reason that I live
Jesus, Jesus

this was more or less the prayer that just came ... a couple of day ago Sally ... when I asked for the photo and permission to use it.

I've been thinking about navigation and about how we have to let things drop until we see which way the wind is going ...so we can set our sails accordingly.

It would be nice always to be in a safe harbour too - but God calls us to push out into the deep, into the unknown -and to wait for the wind of His spirit to blow ... to let that fill our sails

but as you know sailing isn't passive, it's not being buffeted at random - it's about setting a course too.

Now what all that means in the nitty gritty in my everyday life - in the here and now - well I'm not really sure -- but that song is the prayer of my heart - that He'd be the fire in my heart, and the wind in my sails and the reason I live

that he'd be the centre, my everything.

and oh I go sailing for real on Wednesday -whatever the weather I think. (well, within reason) and it will be a time of refreshing after all these studies.

Lorna, enjoy the sailing!

My friend Matt is going into the hospital on Monday for a variety of tests to try and diagnose the cause of some alarming symptoms. He already lives with one chronic illness (thalassemia), and these may be complications from that, but the doctors are baffled and my friend is frustrated, in pain, and a bit frightened--as am I. Prayers please--that the medical people are able to pinpoint the cause, that it is treatable and that he have the courage and strength needed for whatever lies ahead. For his family as they wait for the results. And me, too, please...for faith and courage. He is very special to me.

Thank you all...
