"Tuesday Prayer" or "Taking a Peek at a Lectionary Reading Coming Up Way Next Week"

Romans 5:1-5 (NIV)
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

May hope not disappoint YOU, dear RevGals and Pals, wherever you find yourselves today.

I am giving thanks for a hopeful (?) development in my son's life...he has somehow gotten himself a car.

We had to take away the one we had supplied for his use because he didn't comply with any of the conditions we set forth...apparently he didn't believe we were serious about those! Wrong! He was furious, we were unhappy - it was stinky all the way around.

He says he paid for this car all himself; I doubt that, and think his mom paid for most of it, despite her agreement with us not to do it. Sigh. He says he is paying his own insurance. How? and on and on...

The important thing to me, though, is that he is feeling good and successful about himself. Whether or not I agree with how that happened. Now maybe he can move on in other areas...

I've been so worried about him; he is not graduating with his class this weekend due to refusal to do his work; he has no college plans going forward. We have told him he has to be either working or going to school; there is no lying around the house.

He turns 18 tomorrow. Last day of school is Thursday. What will he do? summer school? Repeat 12th grade? We go out to dinner for his birthday tomorrow and he is to tell us his plan.

I am working hard to turn it over to God, because everything I have tried to do so far in the way of helping has NOT worked.

Please keep us all in your prayers...
