Evening Prayer

Out of the silence at the beginning of time
you spoke the Word of life.
Out of the world's primeval darkness
you flooded the universe with light.
In the quiet of this place
in the dark of the night
I wait and watch.
In the stillness of my soul
and from its fathomless depths
the senses of my heart are awake to you
For fresh soundings of life
for new showings of light
I search in the silence of my spirit, O God.

Folks, this is lame and unlike me: I didn't forget to post, but all day long I thought it was Wednesday, and I was looking forward to posting tomorrow. My prayers tonight are for all who "wait and watch" for something, be it great or small,

One more update on my young friend--he is slowly returning to some semblance of normal. I think it will take a long time of healing before he is able to trust anyone as he trusted his ex-fiancee...she violated that trust and it hurt him deeply.

I have actually found it a blessing to be able to support him through this. Ironically, it has brought us closer together--and he now trusts me, at least, at a level he did not before.

Continued prayers for my son...things are still unclear about the vandalism at his school. It seems so unlike him.

It is such a delight to have been welcomed here and already see some of my very favorite prayers and sources for prayer, like this one. Thank you all.

Sometimes the evening prayer is the right prayer. Thank you and Amen.

WC, we are praying for YOU.

It is one of the great blessings and challenges we are offered, to be an end-of-life caregiver as you and DQH are doing. No wonder you were mixed up on the days. The prayer was just what I needed this morning!

Beautiful prayer.

Please pray for our six year old niece Grace Elizabeth Honkanen, facing surgery for a unusual skin cancer on her scalp, and her parents Sarah and Chris. Matt's brother is retired air force and the family just moved to Okinawa where he is a civilian consultant, and there is some concern about the quality of the medical care.
