A Celtic Rune Before Prayer

I am bending my knee

In the eye of the Father who created me,

In the eye of the Son who purchased me,

In the eye of the Spirit who cleansed me,

In friendship and affection.

Through Thine own Anointed One, O God,

Bestow upon us fullness in our need,

Love towards God,

The affection of God,

The smile of God,

The wisdom of God.

The grace of God,

The fear of God,

And the will of God

To do on the world of the Three,

As angels and saints

Do in heaven;

Each shade and light,

Each day and night,

Each time in kindness,

Give Thou us Thy Spirit.

That's wonderful, LC! Thank you for a great start to what promises to be a busy day for me!

Quick update on my young friend...still little contact with his fiancee. However, he's started working again, which is a huge help--keeps his mind off the problem, challenges him, and boosts his self-esteem. Please continue to keep him in prayer.

And a new worry--my son, TO, who is graduating from high school this year, has been suspended for vandalizing the school--pray-painted graffiti on the outside walls. I am not at all sure he is guilty, but he made some incriminating statements... Today was to be his last day, and he's spending it on suspension. He's probably barred from Prom, and may be from the graduation ceremony. His father and I are working with the school to see what can be done to find who really did it (It probably would have taken more than one person), or to have TO make restitution, if needed. Please keep us all in your prayers in the next few days.

Oh, how stressful, RP. Prayers on both counts.

Everyone, please pray for Kim and Lourdes, a longtime committed couple whose wedding mass my bishop will celebrate tonight (full sacramental marriage in the eyes of God and our jurisdiction, legal civil union in New Jersey).

Please pray for Bev, a friend of one of my coworkers. She and her husband are farmers. Yesterday she was driving down her pasture lane in her pickup with a five-year-old grandchild; she stopped to open a gate -- and at some point the pickup somehow fell out of gear and ran over her. A tire actually ran over her head, breaking most of the bones in her face; she also broke a shoulder and some ribs. Her internal organs were, miracurously, not injured, but her brain has begun to swell somewhat, and she's in a drug-induced coma right now because of that and the pain. The child was not injured at all. Anyway...please keep this family in your prayers.

Oh no, prayers for you all as you negotiate with the school. Prayers for you son. There was a time that all that cost one was restitution, cleaning it up. Not anymore.

Prayers for your friend and family Lutheran Chik.

very cool - I have not read this in some time... a definite keeper for my personal "prayer wall"

RP
As someone who did her own "cup of stupid" in youthful indiscretions, I am hopeful that TO will be able to be given the opportunity to at least walk across the stage for his diploma. It would be almost overly punitive to forbid that... but who knows...

parenting joys and woes... God's grace for both...
