You Hear Our Silent Cries

O God, we labor in the heat of the day,
and so often the labor feels hopeless, unproductive, useless ....

And yet, you hear our silent cries.
You give us one another
to speak that which we in our pain cannot speak.
You give us your Word
that utters those things we cannot find the words to say.

And not only do you give us the words to speak,
but you also turn your ear to us and hear us,
even when all we have strength to whisper is,
"Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer."
For you have promised to hear us.
You have promised to turn your face to shine upon us.
You have promised to be our shade
when the heat of the day saps our strength
and the well of hope runs dry.

And you have promised,
even in the silence,
to give us the sweet sound of peace.

please pray that an email I will send today or tomorrow will be received in the appropriate way - and that answers will be forthcoming...

Praying for you, Lorna.

Will you all please keep my stepson Brandon in your prayers...he is very depressed at recent breakup with his first girlfriend, and where before he was not doing well in school, now he is not doing at all.

He's supposed to graduate this spring, but unless something changes, he won't. We are scheduling an appoinment with a psychiatrist, but he is very resistant due to early childhood exposure to counselors (during nasty divorce & custody battle).

Help.

I actually felt my shoulders relax as I read this prayer today.

praying for Lorna and for Brandon...

Please keep me and my church in your prayers too. My confirmation class got a planned state-of-the-class lecture last night (the last one ever) about coming prepared to class and taking responsibility for their faith journeys. Now there is fallout from parents to be dealt with, and I am not the favorite pastor at the moment. (must be nice for HoS for me to take some of the pressure off, eh?)

Our congregation is also in a transition period. We are figuring out how to work our Sunday schedule to make everyone happy (or at least to make the smallest number of people unhappy). It's going, well, poorly at the moment. We need some help from above!

Prayers for all in transition. May the spirit rest and bring a sense of peace in the way it is needed.

Grief is also part of transition.

Tomorrow things will be decided that could end our own transition. We are just starting to heal and grow.

The deciding body needs discernment prayers. We are not ready, and they know it, to offer a Call, and no Interim ministers will come here...too far.
